About this project

Who publishes this site, how it is funded, and the line between data and advice.

What Flood Costs exists to answer one question with evidence: what do Florida homeowners actually pay for flood insurance?

That question is asked constantly and answered badly. Search results are full of wide ranges with no sample size, no year and no source, published by businesses that earn a commission when you request a quote.

FEMA publishes the underlying policy records openly. Nobody was turning them into pages a homeowner could read, so we did.

How this site makes money

Advertising, shown through Google AdSense. We are not an insurance agency, we hold no licence, we sell no policies and we receive nothing from insurers or brokers. There are no quote forms on this site and no lead capture of any kind.

What we will not do

We do not give advice on whether you should buy a policy, which carrier to choose, or how much coverage to hold. Those are questions for a licensed agent who knows your property. We publish data and explain how we calculated it.
